Rodeo Cinema and the Oklahoma Film + Music Office Announce Call for Oklahoma Made Short Films

Rodeo Cinema, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), has announced a call for entries for short films to be screened before selected feature presentations and events this year.

“Rodeo Cinema calls on local filmmakers to share short films that honor the past, celebrate the present and inspire the future,” said Rodeo Cinema General Manager Shannon Smith. “We envision a world where storytelling bridges generations—through film, education and community.”

Oklahoma City’s only not-for-profit arthouse theater, Rodeo Cinema’s rich history dates back to its opening in 1924 showing silent movies, and at present, serves as a home where communities are born and sustained through art, film screenings, special events and more proudly hosted at the venue. With the goal of spotlighting local filmmakers and their works, Rodeo Cinema hopes to offer moviemakers a platform to showcase their projects before new audiences.

Short film submission guidelines are as follows:

  • Film must be made in Oklahoma by local filmmakers – OR – with strong Oklahoma ties within cast and crew if shot outside of the state
  • Maximum length of 20 minutes
  • Content should be appropriate for all audiences

Submissions are open year-round.

“We’re thrilled to support Rodeo Cinema in promoting this call for entries for Oklahoma filmmakers,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “We value the opportunity and platform Rodeo Cinema is providing our local filmmakers to have their works further celebrated by local audiences through this outreach.”

For questions or to submit a qualifying Oklahoma short film, please email info@rodeocinema.org.
